Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Dončić entered the National Basketball Association as the third overall pick in the 2018 draft. The Slovenian, who has been by far the best player of his draft class, goes by many nicknames, including the nostalgic Cool Hand Luka. Mostly, he is known by either his first or last name because he is such a recognizable figure in sports circles.
The basketball prodigy, who was born to parents who later divorced, followed his father to his basketball games. Dončić grew up playing a variety of sports, but due to his rapid growth spurt, the godson of retired NBA player Rasho Nesterović decided to focus on basketball. He would sweep floors at his father's games for KK Olimpija in Ljubljana, Slovenia. At eight years old, Luka's skills allowed him to play with 11-year-olds, and at nine, he could stand toe to toe with the 14-year-old youth basketball players. The future NBA star was already well on his way to becoming a basketball superstar even before he was the age of 10.
His stellar professional basketball career began even before playing in the NBA. He won the Spanish basketball league Liga ACB's championship three times in addition to a EuroLeague championship and MVP in 2018. He also was selected for the EuroLeague All-Decade Team for his excellent play with Real Madrid from 2015 to 2018.
Just 126 games into his NBA career, he has taken the basketball world by storm. After winning the 2018-19 NBA Rookie of the Year award and being named the 2019 *Sports Illustrated* Breakout Player of the Year, he made his first All-Star Game in his second season. Now just 21 years old, Luka is averaging 28.7 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game this season. Just six other players accomplished those numbers in their second NBA season, and all of them are Hall of Famers: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal, Oscar Robertson, Bob McAdoo, and Elgin Baylor.
Although Luka may not live up to their historic resumes, his short career thus far with the Mavericks has him looking like Michael Jordan, who is being featured in The Last Dance Documentary. No. 23 owned the record of consecutive games (18) with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 1989. MJ's record no longer stands, as Luka went for 20, five, and five in 20 straight contests in November and December 2019.
Luka is not only "like Mike," but he is also like his role model LeBron James and even better in certain categories. Although Anthony Davis may help LeBron add to his championship total, Luka is making a statement with lesser skill playing around him. During Dončić's two years in the NBA, he has one more triple-double than LeBron, and Luka's 22 career triple-doubles are already the most in Mavericks franchise history. In addition, Dončić would already have the franchise-best triple-double total for 15 other franchises. Luka is the next face of the NBA, and here are the Best 15 Luka Dončić Rookie Cards sold on eBay over the last 90 days.

An important aspect of this 2018 Panini Revolution card is the Eye of God tattoo found on his left forearm. Dončić's left forearm is where the majority of his tattoos are found. The other prominent tattoos on his forearm are the tiger and number "7". He has the tiger tattoo because he has said that, like Mike Tyson, he would like to buy a tiger. He has yet to purchase one though. No. 7, his lucky number, was his jersey number for Real Madrid, and Luka currently wears No. 77 for the Mavericks.

The listing of this 2018 Panini Flawless Luka card is BGS 9.5. There have been 10 Dončić Star Swatch Signatures cards submitted to BGS, and three of them are BGS 9.5.
In this card, Luka is showing off the Mavericks swingman jersey, which is not very common for his cards. The other rare aspect of this Star Swatch Signatures card is the type of signature. Typically in Luka's playful "Lulu" signature, he signs his "L"s in a similar way, but with the first "L" being larger. This autograph card differs from his typical signature because he has not connected the two aspects of the "L."
The patch for this Star Swatch Signatures Green card includes gray, white, and navy blue. The back of the card describes the importance of Luka's relationship with fellow Slovenian Goran Dragić. The card includes Dragić's impressively accurate description of Dončić before Luka even joined the NBA. The two All-Stars were roommates while playing for the Slovenian national team. In 2017, they were both on the EuroBasket All-Tournament Team, and Dragić won the EuroBasket MVP.

The autograph also differs in the two cards. The Signature Prime Materials signature is more of a typical one by Dončić: it has a regular large loop that is fully connected for his first "L."

The German superstar also remarked that Luka's rookie season surpassed his expectations.

There are three parallels of this card that would have made this top 15 list: their prices ranged from $15,000 to $55,100. Sporting his road jersey in this 2018 Panini National Treasures card, Dončić is using his right foot to rise into a shot. The jersey patch has three tones - black, white, and royal blue. In the set, there are 1,112 Luka cards and a total of more than 136,000 cards.
Conclusion
With Luka Dončić's career continuing to skyrocket, the value of his cards will keep increasing as well. His 28.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game in 2019-20 have only been duplicated by Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook. Robertson accomplished the feat three times.
In 2020 NBA playoffs, Luka will be leading the Mavericks on the court while two-time champion Rick Carlisle will be leading the team in the huddle. Carlisle, a New York native, won a championship as a player with the Boston Celtics in 1986 and another as the head coach of the Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki in 2011.
Luka will be hoping to double Carlisle's coaching championship total soon. Although the Mavericks have not made the playoffs since 2016 and not many of the Dallas players have playoff experience, Carlisle will bring this team together.
While Dončić and company may not have enough firepower to take down LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers in 2020, Mark Cuban will never give up. Therefore, Luka's chance at future titles will be high.
The Mavericks are by no means the favorite to win the 2020 championship, but maybe Cuban can get the Mavericks their own big three next season: Luka Dončić, Kristaps Porziņģis, and a player to be traded for later.
Dallas is the NBA team of the future, and Luka is the NBA's face of the future. He is ready to take on the league, and the value of his top basketball cards will continue to climb higher and higher every day.
